Red gurnard

Chelidonichthys cuculus

Brick-red gurnard with an armoured head and the family's three free finger-like pectoral rays for 'walking' the seabed. A conspicuous row of bony plates runs along the straight side-line; pectoral fins are plain reddish (no bold patch). Smaller than the tub gurnard.
