Grey seal

Halichoerus grypus

The larger UK seal, with a long straight 'Roman nose' profile and widely spaced nostrils that sit parallel. Coat is blotchy and irregularly patched, grey to brown with large dark and pale patches. Hauls out on rocky shores and offshore islands around most of the UK coast, especially in autumn to breed.
