Spatangus purpureus

A larger, purplish-brown heart urchin covered in dense short spines, ploughing shallow trails just under the surface of clean sand and gravel in deeper subtidal water. Bigger and hairier-looking than the sea potato, with a distinct heart-shaped outline.
